Scripture suggestions for your Advent Scripture Tree

Using a small (two foot) artificial tree, some twine or string, and the verses below, you can make an Advent Scripture Tree. It’s a great way to celebrate the Season of Advent and to anticipate the coming of Jesus!

Just print out the verses below on ordinary printer paper. Then, cut the strips across on the lines separating the days.

Next, fold the strips in half, so the printed side is covered up in the fold. Then, use a hole punch to make holes in the ends of the strips. Use a pen or marker to write the number of the day on the strip on the blank side of the folded paper.

Put a small piece of twine or string through the hole, and tie it, numbered side up, to one of the branches of the tree.

Each day in the month of December leading up to Christmas, look for the paper with the number corresponding to that day. Untie the verse, read it, and try to memorize it. Ask God to help you understand how that verse relates to the coming of Jesus as a baby in Bethlehem, what it means for his relationship with you now, and for his coming again!
